Hull City’s owner Acun Ilicali has expressed his frustration over false transfer rumors surrounding the club, particularly those claiming Hull City was being rejected by potential signings. In an effort to clear up misunderstandings and misinformation, Ilicali took to social media to address these claims.
The Tigers are preparing for their return to the Premier League after a nine-year absence following their Championship play-off final victory in May. So far, they have already secured signings such as goalkeeper Jack Butland from Rangers, midfielder Oscar Zambrano from Maribor, and defender Matt Targett from Newcastle United. These moves are part of Ilicali’s plan to build a competitive team for the 2026-27 season.
In his social media post, Ilicali stated, 'We are reading dozens of false transfer rumors in many places,' expressing his disturbance over these unverified claims. He further added, 'To prevent false speculation and to give you more information, I am leaving you with our latest transfer situation, which includes some clues...' The message included a list of players already signed along with hints at potential signings from various countries.
Among the confirmed signings are Butland, Zambrano, and Targett. Additionally, Ilicali hinted that Hull City is close to finalizing a deal for free agent midfielder Hidemasa Morita, who previously played for Olympiakos in Greece. Other hints included potential signings from Sweden (90%), Australia (80%), Croatia (80%), Portugal (80%), and Japan (99%).
Ilicali recently mentioned that the club had taken out a £55m bridging loan to ensure they are financially strong for completing these transfers. He emphasized, 'We have been working intensively for two months. I believe we will build a team that we will all be proud of.'
